A feast of pink awaits as Matthew Flinders Anglican College students present the iconic American musical, Legally Blonde, at the Flinders Performance Centre from 18-20 March.
Tickets are open to the public and available for $25 per person at www.trybooking.com/BMRIH
Based on the novel and the hit-movie of the same name, Legally Blonde is a fun, upbeat story of self-discovery, and will be brought to life by Flinders’ large cast of 60 students across Years 8-12.
The show’s musical score is presented by a bespoke ensemble of selected music staff and students at the College who are of a calibre to meet the challenging technical and musical requirements.
Flinders Head of Creative Arts, Mr Danny Parker said audiences were in for a lot of fun as students had worked hard and grown in confidence and ability during the three-month production journey.
“Producing a contemporary musical is something of a rollercoaster; and Legally Blonde is a demanding yet rewarding project,” Danny said.
“The rehearsals have been a blend of calm, dedicated hard work, and sheer musical madness as we have sung together, danced together and most importantly laughed together,” he said.
“Students have embraced the whole-of-company music pieces as well as the delicate nuanced musical moments with enthusiasm and increasing maturity.
“The Flinders Creative Arts Program is all about creating opportunities for our students to explore their creativity and develop their confidence, skills and courage.
“Staff have enjoyed the opportunity to mentor, challenge and support this student group across the diverse areas of theatre, vocal training, music, choreography, stage management, lighting or design.”
Upcoming student productions through the Flinders Creative Arts Program in 2021 include The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee and You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, as well as a range of smaller productions which are in the works.
