St Andrew’s recognises and caters for gifted and talented students within an inclusive cohort by providing specialised educational programs and opportunities. We invite you come along and find out how to best support gifted and talented students from Kindergarten to Year 12.
Our annual Gifted & Talented and Scholarship Information Evening provides information and resources for parents of children who may fall into this category of learner. Come along and find out how we support these unique learners.
On the evening Dr Minh Nguyen-Hoan, an expert in the education of gifted children, will present a talk on the need to support the mental health and social-emotional needs of gifted children. Mrs Rhonda Robson, Deputy Head and Head of Junior School, will chair a panel discussion with specialist learning development staff on how St Andrew’s approaches this area of special education. The panel will also discuss academic and music scholarship opportunities at St Andrew’s Cathedral School. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
View the flyer here.
The discussion will cover students from Kindergarten to Year 10.
Parents and educators from all schools are welcome to attend. It is anticipated that this event will conclude by 7.30pm.
Please note: Depending on the level of COVID-19 restrictions, this information evening may be delivered as an online event.
In 2020, our Gifted and Talented Information Evening was held online using the Teams app. If you are unable to attend our presentation on 17 March, 2021, please watch the 2020 presentation, which highlights the overall approach of our Gifted and Talented Education Program and features our guest speaker Dr Peta Hay explaining the myths, research and recommendations of grouping students by ability.
