Excellence in Teaching

Our students benefit from having teachers who truly value learning and care for their students to provide them with excellence in classroom practice.

Structured leadership of the broad curriculum under highly qualified and experienced Directers of Teaching and Learning provide our academic staff with up to date strategies and
methadologies to take student learning to high levels of success.

Excellence in Academic Studies

Christian College offers excellence in our Teaching and Learning focus which embraces the different learning styles and needs of our students.

Our staff effectively plan and deliver engaging and vibrant units of study to allow each student to maximise the broad range of academic opportunities on offer from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Excellence in Learning Capacity

By taking responsibility for their educational journey, together with supportive and dedicated staff, our students consistently strive to produce their best effort.

Excellence in developing the learning capacity of our students is encouraged through collaborative, creative and challenging cognitive thinking.

Excellence in Character Development

Understanding and exploring the Christian values of our College enables our students to develop character qualities that provide them with the ability to contribute positively to the community and indeed the world.

Excellence in character development is the hallmark of a Christian College education.

Excellence in Opportunities

Providing students with the opportunity to experience excellence in a range of learning and cultural experiences is an integral part of educating the whole Christian Collge student.

This is achieved through music performance, the creative arts, sporting opportunities, the learning of languages, camps and tours to local and overseas places.

Solid foundations in literacy and numeracy are laid at our Junior School levels through the Early Years structure. This leads on to the engaging and innovative Middle School programme where students study core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, Physical Education, Health, Information Technology, Music, Sport, Japanese and Indonesian. In addition, our students are offered a wide range of elective studies introduced at Year 5 to develop new skills and interests before making choices for their future tertiary studies and careers.

Recent initiatives to enhance our Middle School learning experience for students include the exciting ’Vision Learning’ programme at Year 5 and the provision and use of 1:1 devices incorporated throughout the curriculum.

The vital final years at our Senior School provide specialised teaching across all learning areas, supporting success in their choices of VCE studies and more recently, paralleled pathways in VET and VCAL.
The stages of development of young learners are reflected in the structure of the College – with each section encompassing the year levels which enable students to develop a continuing love of learning with differing skills and approaches to teaching and learning.

Williams House Kindergarten includes Pre-Kindergarten and Pre-School programmes and is located within the Junior School grounds at the Belmont Campus. With specialist staff from Junior School involved in teaching weekly sessions, students become familiar with the Junior School environment. This makes for a smooth and happy transition into the Prep. Year.

Junior School at both Belmont and Bellarine Campuses encompasses Years Prep to 4.

The Middle School experience at Highton and Bellarine Campuses commences at Year 5 This ensures that students are settled into the Middle School routines before facing the challenges of adolescence and the changing structures of secondary studies. Students graduate from Middle School in Year 9 with the highlight being the five weeks residential Rural Studies Experience at 'Back Creek', Scotsburn.

The Senior School, Years 10 to 12, brings both Bellarine and Highton students together at a separate Campus structured to ensure a culture conducive to high achievement in VCE studies as well as involvement in leadership, responsibility and service.

Christian College recognizes the increasing need for compassionate, professional Christian counselling and advice in times of need. The Chaplains at each Campus are readily available for private discussion with students, staff members and families. Where appropriate they are able to refer to professional resources within the community. The College Chaplains provide leadership of worship and services of dedication, prayer groups and optional lunchtime activities with a Christian message. Their oversight and involvement with daily student devotions, as well as the Christian Education programme from Kindergarten to VCE, ensures that aspects of the Christian faith and experience are understood by our students at all levels.

'Seek ye first the Kingdom of God' Matthew 6:33

Christian ValuesThe Christian College community strives to exemplify Christian values and lifestyle in the daily interaction with students and families. This sets the tone of the school as courtesy and consideration is extended to all involved -students, teachers, administration, bus drivers, maintenance staff and visitors to all our campuses.

By participating in worship services, daily devotions and the Christian Education programme, our students gain an understanding of the Christian faith as expressed through the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. This is the guide by which values and fine character traits such as care, compassion, respect, tolerance, honesty and integrity become part of our everyday life at each campus.Christian Values

Throughout society, and in positions of leadership today we need fine, upstanding young men and women with character who are prepared to serve others, accept responsibility and stand up for what they believe to be right. These are the qualities of Christian College students, both within our local community and overseas.
The aim of Christian College is to develop the spiritual, intellectual, physical and emotional capacity of students as part of their total character, and to develop an appreciation of the wonderful world in which we live, to enhance it, as well as to preserve it.
Our College Motto “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God “ - Matthew 6:33 provides the basis upon which Christian College has developed over the past thirty years.
