At Holy Family Catholic Primary School we have a special responsibility to look after the academic, social, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing of all in our care.

Pastoral Care is foundational to who we are, what we do and why we do it. Our policy is based upon shared Catholic values through which families and staff work together to provide a positive supportive environment characterised by trust, cooperation and respect. We build strong and positive relationships which typify our Holy Family community.

Holy Family is a community that provides a strong sense of wellbeing, belonging and security where students are given every opportunity to be affirmed with dignity and worth and assisted to grow to the fullness of their potential. We acknowledge the right for all members of our community to feel safe.

Holy Family Catholic Primary School was founded in the Brigidine tradition, and the values and charism that Saint Brigid promoted are embedded into our Mission and Vision Statements. Throughout the school, we have shared values which provide staff, parents and children with the language to discuss behaviour in a consistent way.

Our Brigidine values are reflected in our school rules: Respect, Responsibility and to Learn. Our commitment to these values and rules therefore means that at Holy Family every child has the right to be safe and to feel safe. In all that we do we aim to develop confidence and competence in our students and encourage a real connection to their school and their community. These strengths allow them to face life-long challenges in a positive and resilient manner.

Principal Lou DogaoFrom its humble beginning in 1927, through to today’s modern educational institution the provision of education steeped in Catholic values and traditions has been the basis for supporting teaching and learning at Holy Family.

Holy Family is a Catholic parish school that recognises each child as being unique and formed in the image of God. We are a school community where a friendly, trusting collaboration between Principal, Parish Priest, Teachers and Parents is fostered for the ongoing development of each individual.

Diverse curricula activities initiated by a caring and dedicated team of professionals, well maintained grounds and facilities and parent involvement combine to offer excellent learning opportunities. To find out more about Holy Family, please visit the school, phone or browse our internet facility.

A dedicated, caring, and professional staff

Holy Family is blessed with a dedicated and caring staff who have created a loving Christian environment that is the essence of Holy Family School. In this nurturing atmosphere learning is enhanced and upon graduating from Holy Family, the children have their Catholic faith and the academic skills to assist them successfully through their high school years.

Empowering children through leadership

Children at the Holy Family Catholic Primary School (from Kindergarten to Year Six) are taught to follow their own interests and come up with their own initiatives as part of The Leader in Me initiative.

“We want children to find their voice, find their place and see that they’ve got something to contribute,” said Lou Dogao, the Principal.

“At Kindergarten level, it might be that a child becomes the Leader of Sustainability for their classroom, taking on responsibilities such as delivering fruit break waste to the Environmental team for composting – or simply making sure the lights are turned off when they leave the classroom,” said Mr Dogao.

“The Leader in Me process is not about being number one or wearing a badge. It’s about students finding a way to be the best they can be within themselves and that really fits in with Catholic teachings.”

I look forward to welcoming you to Holy Family and invite you to take a personal school tour by contacting us on 02 9416 7200 or info@holyfamily.nsw.edu.au

“Ethics and values are embedded with academics, creating great little human beings.”

“Kids are respectful and responsible learners, and this has become the rule at home for us.”

“It’s a great, safe & nurturing school with lots of opportunities for our son to grow and shine!”

“A great little school with a big community spirit. The kids are very respectful and kind to each other and the teachers are very receptive to queries when raised.”

School Readiness

If your 4 or 5-year-old has been unable to attend preschool over the last couple of months, you may be concerned that they are missing out on developing some of the key skills needed to start school. Starting kindergarten is a new adventure for you and your child.  It is important that they are excited and proud to walk through the classroom door, ready to take their place in the ‘big kids’ school.

The Catholic Schools Office of Broken Bay has developed a range of resources featuring some helpful tips to assist you in preparing your child at home for kindergarten.

Our Getting Ready booklet outlines a range of learning tools, each supported by an educational video, that will assist in helping to develop the necessary skills in your child to ensure a successful start to their schooling. To see our school readiness video tools please click here.

To receive your FREE getting ready bag, including booklet and other fun activities, please contact our school office on 9416 7200 to arrange for collection. Appointments for collection are required during COVID 19 restrictions.

If your child is ready for school, we’d love to welcome you to take a look around Holy Family Catholic Primary School, a popular school choice for local families.
