Thursday 14 May was a significant day for everyone at St James’ Anglican School in Alkimos, Western Australia. The School gymnasium received its formal signage and will forever be known as the Djinda Sports Centre. Djinda, an Aboriginal word meaning stars above, reflects our beautiful clean air in the north and our desire to be stars. A perfect name for our future Orange Army stars.

The Djinda Sports Centre boasts an impressive 1, 337sqm, in line with some of the largest gymnasiums within the ASC schools. It features eight Badminton, two Tennis and two Basketball courts as well as three Volleyball and two Netball courts which opens up a number of opportunities for all St James’ students. Exposes them to new sports they may have never considered before and provides them with a safe place to do so. Although the structure of the Djinda Sports Centre has been completed we are excited to continue to see it grow with our School Community. The Centre will see an additional two Physical Education classrooms, along with a storeroom and Physical Education Office and changerooms. A Production Stage along with a Green Room and Drama classrooms with finish off the Djinda Sports Centre creating opportunities for all students to discover their passions of both the arts and the sports during their time at St James’ Anglican School.

St James’ Anglican School is owned by The Anglican Schools Commission (Inc). Established in 1985, the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC) core purpose is to establish and support low fee Anglican schools which provide a high quality, inclusive, caring Christian education.
