As Principal, I welcome you to St Andrew's Anglican College, an award winning Independent private school achieving excellence on the Sunshine Coast. With our current enrolment of 1280 students in 2019, the College caters for students from 6 weeks old to Pre-Prep in our Early Learning Centre then onto Prep to Year 12. In order to achieve the high aspirations of our Mission Statement, "St Andrew's has a vision of excellence promoted in all aspects of the College life", the College has been fortunate to attract a high calibre of staff who seek each day to provide these unique educational opportunities for the children in their care.
Â
Being the Principal of St Andrew’s Anglican College is such an amazing and rewarding job, because of the people! It’s a delight to welcome the students each morning, to interact with staff as we share ideas about the future of our College and collaborate with parents to ensure a consistent approach to all we undertake. As Principal, I have the exciting challenge to implement our Strategic Intent; to leverage our positive energy and supportive community to enable our students to move confidently into their futures. Â
Â
At St Andrew's, the best aspects of a traditional Anglican School education are combined with a vision for what students need today and for their exciting futures. All these considerations produce a learning environment which is distinctively St Andrew's, but with the standards of care, Christian values, academic rigour, focus on independent learning and positive environment exemplified by other leading independent schools across Australia.
Â
We talk a lot about ‘the St Andrew’s way’, that is our approach to education is based on high expectations of our staff and students, balanced with a high commitment to the importance of the relationship that exists between staff, student and parents. As Principal it isn’t my role to monitor this, but to model this! I work with a committed staff that engenders not just a love for learning but a love for belonging, of being part of a community. The flow-on effect of this is a student body that so openly emanates a willingness to engage in a wide range of opportunities.Â
Our wish for our departing Collegians is that they will have a passion for learning and will value the virtues of wisdom and integrity. They will be individuals who endeavour to positively transform the communities in which they live and work. In the great and the small things they do, they will enliven and enrich our world.
I encourage families who are looking to enrol, to contact the College and arrange a time to meet us and have a tour of one of Queensland’s great schools.
